Artist Camilla Engström grew up between Sweden and China, but now she lives in Los Angeles where she creates her bright, colorful artwork. She’s drawn to paint bodies that aren’t considered traditionally beautiful, but in a way, she shows the world how beautiful we all are in the process.
The message that she sends with her artwork is one of acceptance and understanding. But while she does her own thing, she still holds true to many skills and rules that she learned while studying fashion in NYC.
As you can see and probably feel, her art today is free of restrictions, colorful, and very positive. She named the girl in her paintings Husa, which means housemaid in Swedish. Husa is a happy character that’s not too tall or thin, and who also enjoys nature and always looks happy in her simple existence.
