Dora Dalila Cheffi’s Paintings Show the Beauty of Everyday Life in Tunisia

Dora Dalila Cheffi’s parents are Finnish and Tunisian and they got divorced when she was three, so she’s had an interesting life living in two places, in two very different cultures. Her mixed upbringing inspired her to start painting everyday life in Tunisia in order to better understand how she fits in with her unique story.

“It’s about how it feels being a young mixed woman in Tunisia,” Cheffi told WePresent. “The bold colors I started using came from a very childlike naïve happy place. When I first moved here I thought everything was so wonderful, I was looking at everything through pink glasses.”

See her paintings below and go visit her Instagram page if you’re curious to see more. With her art, Cheffi wants to show all the people like her that it’s possible to mix two very different cultures into something new and beautiful.
