Dutch Artists Accidentally Made These Awesome Rope Masks

Artist Bertjan Pot and his assistant Vladi Rapaport worked together experimenting with materials when they discovered a fun new way to create masks from the rope. They were trying to make rugs but were stuck finding a way to keep the rope flat when Rapaport suggested they try making masks instead.

“In the end it turned out to be the most powerful application for the material,” said Pot to Azure Magazine.

His masks resemble tribal masks and look like they have a deeper meaning, but Pot assures everyone that they’re simply a fun result of a fail attempt at making rugs. Either way, we enjoyed browsing his Instagram page where he shares his art and we believe you will, too. In the meantime, scroll down to see the masks.
