Heather Knight’s Nature-Inspired Ceramics Look Just Like the Real Thing

Many artists use nature as the main source of inspiration, and so does Heather Knight – but in a way that we’ve never seen before. She’s turning nature into art through her amazing ceramics creations that look just as magical as the real thing.

Heather Knight is the founder of Element Clay Studio, but it took her some time to find her true calling. She initially started working with clay in high school but didn’t take it too seriously at the time. Knight found ceramics in college and decided to open her own studio shortly after graduation.

Knight uses all sorts of different techniques to bring her creations to life, hand-building most of her work. Slab building and pinching are two of her favorite techniques, but she also enjoys hand-sculpting textural elements, often relying on everyday tools such as chopsticks to get the job done.

As far as inspiration goes, it’s pretty clear that she heavily relies on nature, and that seems like the most organic choice. After all, Knight works with natural materials to bring her creations to life, and using nature as an endless source of ideas is a no-brainer.

Her ceramic pieces take the shapes of rocks, flowers, succulents, and corals, and you can shop for them on her official website and Etsy page.
