Impressive Pattern and Ornamental-Inspired Paper Sculptures by Studio Ibbini

Studio Ibbini is Abu Dhabi, UAE-based art studio that creates impressive decorative pieces and paper sculptures inspired by geometrical patterns and ornamental culture. Their pieces combine hand drawings and computer software, bringing the best out of both worlds together.

According to their website, Studio Ibbini is a joint effort by Julia Ibbini and Stéphane Noyer. Ibbini is a visual artist with a background in graphic design, while Noyer is a computer scientist who enjoys exploring computational geometry.

Their sculptures start as hand-drawn designs, which get augmented with complex algorithms. They are then cut with laser in paper and built entirely by hand. Despite the help of machines and computers, the process is still time-consuming and can take hundreds of hours before the final piece is ready for display.

“A specific focus is the creation of visual complexity, either through repetition of simple motifs, elaborate geometric construction, or accumulation of ornamental detail in order to create highly intricate and decorative pieces,“ it states on the Studio Ibbini website.

Creations from Studio Ibbini have been recognized by Cleef & Arpels Middle East Designer Prize while also being displayed at festivals and events around the world. Continue scrolling to check out more of them below.
