Ivory Coast Artist Creates Complex Sculptures With Her Hair

Laetitia Ky describes herself as “polyvalent artist” as she loves to engage in all sorts of different art forms. However, the most known works of this Ivory Coast-born artist are definitely the complex sculptures she creates using her hair.

Thanks to the fact that her hair is long and thick, Ky is able to use it as canvas and make art pieces with jaw-dropping results. She first gained attention after she sculpted a pair of hands from her hair and shared the photo on social media. The image went viral and encouraged this Ivorian to continue creating this type of art.

According to Ky, she first makes sketches of the sculpture she wants to make before starting to style her hair. She often uses wires and extensions for better effects, and her hairpieces usually take between 20 and 40 minutes to come together.
