Plus-size women often struggle to find magical dresses that fit them perfectly, but several body-positive brands emerged with a mission to make things easier. Jessa Kae is one of them, and they specialize in making beautiful dresses for women of all sizes and body shapes.
Jessa Kae was founded by Jessa Maddocks from her basement in Draper, Utah. Maddocks was very entrepreneurial from a young age, and the foundation of her own brand allowed her to combine her love for fashion, design, and photography into one business.
Her main mission was to create clothes for women who were romantic and unabashedly feminine, crafting dresses that look straight out of a fairy tale. Maddocks wanted to start a brand that makes everyone feel included and decided that Jessa Kae would provide dresses in sizes ranging from XXS to 6X after noticing that many other brands don’t offer inclusive sizes.
When starting Jessa Kae, Maddocks wanted every woman to feel seen, and her decision was largely inspired by her love for her grandma, who had to face many struggles that are all familiar to plus-size women.
“Growing up, I witnessed firsthand her struggles as a plus-size woman. I would see her flip through catalogs to see if her size was available, order clothing, try it on, and return it. It was eye-opening for me to see that when I was younger,” Maddocks told Authority Magazine.
