Jon Ching Blends Flora and Fauna Into Paint Fascinating Creatures

You’ll often hear that everything in nature is connected. Well, Jon Ching took this premise to a whole other level by blending the Earth’s flora and fauna to create oil paintings of fascinating creatures.

His works are detailed, beautifully done, and most importantly, quite unusual. For example, in one of his works, we see a creature that looks like a bird but has a bunch of flowers instead of its head and a honeycomb around its neck. Another painting has a tiger with wings on its head and vines growing around its neck.

According to his website, the basis of his paintings is a “surreal imagining of what limitless wonders and combinations nature can produce.” He also explains that his intention is to “exemplify the endless potential of life on Earth through metaphor and allegory.”

Even more impressive than his works is the fact that Ching is a self-taught artist. He is originally from Kaneohe, Hawaii, and the nature of his beautiful island Oʻahu is actually where he gets most of his inspiration. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles.

Ching’s works are frequently exhibited in galleries nationwide, while he also regularly shares his paintings on social media. Check out more of them below.
