Julia Shore’s Embroidery Creations Look Like Mossy Wonderlands

Embroidery artists who specialize in capturing the beauty of Mother Nature aren’t a rarity, but Julia Shore is doing it in her own way. Instead of using a needle and thread to stitch together pretty flowers, she enjoys making delicate moss-like embroidery creations.

Shore is based in Los Angeles, and she fell in love with embroidery and textile art in 2018, after becoming a mother. This major shift in her life sparked a need in her to express her creativity in a calm and mindful way, and she felt embroidery would allow her to do just that.

After mastering the basics of this art form, she started experimenting with French knots, hand-dyed silk velvets, preserved moss, and Czech and Japanese glass beads. They all helped her bring her moss-like creations to life, perfectly capturing their different shades and forms.

“I use embroidery and beading as my medium because it allows me to capture the intricate details of the living world. And also it helps me to stay present, mindful and feel strong connection to nature,” she explains on her official website.

In addition to selling her hoops and wearable mini art online, Shore is also trying to teach others the secrets of her craft by launching her own master class and offering embroidery kits and PDF patterns.
