Learn How To Volunteer at a COVID-Free Island

If you’re an adventurer and you’re simply fed up with restrictions and lockdowns, or simply want to leave the busy streets, volunteering at Lundy Island might be the right move for you.

According to the advertisement posted on Facebook, they are looking for five volunteers to help with conservation and land management. On the three-mile-long island, they need two volunteer assistants for the seabirds between April and July, two for the Atlantic Grey Seals between July and September, and one volunteer assistant ranger between April and October.

“The roles will be varied but will primarily involve monitoring the island’s wildlife, including seabirds and seals. The successful candidate will also help out the warden team with the various monitoring efforts and general island duties,” says the advertisement. “It will also involve monitoring butterfly transects, moth trapping, and helping out the ranger team with practical management tasks such as Rhododendron seedling searches, dry stone walling, etc.”

Despite the job being unpaid, you will get free accommodation and have a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If traveling to Lundy Island is something you would like to try, all you need is to contact the island warden by sending an email to [email protected]. The deadline is February 5th, 2021.

 Good luck!
