If you’re a fan of intricate, beautifully-decorated cookies, you’ll never run out of food artists to follow on Instagram. Megan Warne, the mastermind behind the Toronto-based brand Downtown Dough, just happens to be one of the very best.
Before becoming an award-winning cookie artist with 160,000 Instagram followers and counting, Warne used to be a designer. Incredible attention to detail was always one of her strongest suits, and it came in handy with cookie art.
Warne first decided to give it a shot while trying to come up with a “party favor that was easy on [her] wallet.” Her first attempt wasn’t a huge success, but she kept trying until she became a cookie-decorating pro and managed to turn her little side hustle into a successful business.
Posts on her Instagram page make it clear that she puts a lot of love and patience into each cookie. She usually comes up with new designs for holidays and special occasions, and her creative process is rewarding and calming at the same time.
“I love to make every cookie unique and find it incredibly therapeutic, which is why you’ll often see me focusing on individual cookies and small sets that I can turn into artwork,” explains Warne on her official website.
