Rebecca Hsu Reconnects With Her Culture Through Art

Rebecca Hsu grew up in the United States as a Taiwanese American and she’s always looked for ways to reconnect to her culture. The best way she found was through art, which she still creates to this day.

“Art is my way of reconnecting with my culture, especially since my work is largely inspired by traditions I loved as a child,” the artist tells Creative Boom.

Hsu lives in the San Francisco Bay area, has a background in industrial design, and has worked with multiple ceramic artists as a production assistant. Since the Bay area is a melting pot of innovative cultures, it’s no surprise that she’s managed to advance her work as far as she has.

“My biggest inspirations are fellow Asian American artists who have found new and creative ways to merge their Asian cultures and American identities through art,” she further reflected on her process.
