Reddit Freaks Out After User Posts a Photo of Huge Spider in His Pantry

Reddit users are accustomed to seeing all sorts of unusual, weird, and bizarre posts. But most of them still were not ready for a photo one Redditor recently shared on the r/mildlyinteresting subreddit.

User Vico1730 freaked out Reddit earlier this week by posting a photo of a huge spider he discovered in his pantry. The spider made itself comfortable on Campbell’s Real Stock and covered almost half of the package.

The post received more than 40K upvotes in just a couple of days and attracted 5K comments from other Redditors. Some users were in the mood for making jokes about how it’s actually spider’s pantry now, but most were freaked out by the fact that spiders can grow to be so big.

“What country/city is this? Only asking, so I never visit there, ever,” one user wrote.

“Time to move out,” added another.

It turns out that the spider in question was the Huntsman spider, a very common species of spider in Tasmania, Australia, where Vico1730 lives.

“Such spiders are very common here, they are harmless, and fortunately don’t eat much out of the pantry. This one was actually quite small. I just perched it on the back of my finger and took it outside,” Vico1730 said when reached out by Newsweek.

We don’t know about you, but Tasmania just slipped down our list of destinations we plan to visit.
