Rie Sakamoto Knits Fashion Items Using Orange Rubber Bands

At first glance, the images below look like any other knitted fashion items, but a closer look reveals that they’re not made of wool, yarn, or any other common material. Japanese designer Rie Sakamoto creates them using orange rubber bands in an attempt to illustrate the diversity of simple stationery items.

Elastic bands are soft and flexible, which inspired Sakamoto to turn them into various fashion garments that can adapt to different bodies. She knits them together in a similar way as if she would do it with wool, using thousands of them for a single project.
