Russian Artist Creates Funny And Absurd Illustrations That Will Make You Think

The human brain sometimes likes to be deceived. We like surprises and unexpected resolutions of common situations, and that’s why we like surreal and absurd art. It often makes us wonder and laugh because it breaks the stereotypical occurrence of events.

Russian artist Anton Gudim is an expert in this field. His ironic, simply drawn illustrations show us the “other side” of life, and his ideas are delightfully unexpected and unusual. Gudim became very popular on Instagram in recent years and currently has 750k followers.

Gudim has a regular job as an IT engineer, but at night he turns into a hyper-talented deconstructionist of reality as we know it. His messages are sometimes very dark and depressing, but he packs them up in hilarious jokes. The main message he wants to send is that the world is varied, and you can always find both amusing and terrifying stuff in it. He also prefers to draw scenes with no text, and he pulls most of his inspiration from his office life.

Gudim had his first art exhibition in Moscow and talked for The Verge about the barriers between being an internet artist and real-life artist. He hopes to develop his artistic career in the offline world too.
