The musicians from the Serbian National Theatre performed Bella Ciao as an act of support and unity with everyone fighting the coronavirus pandemic right now. As they say, cancellations of cultural events are especially hard for the artists, so they wanted to show support to everyone struggling right now.
“Many people are losing their jobs, not just artists and musicians. Even worse, some are losing lives, and we’re aware that’s what’s the most important right now. However, even though the whole world is on hold, we still believe we should do what we do best,” said the opera director Aleksandar Stankov.
As the National Theatre announces, this is just the first in a series of similar videos they will publish. It’s their way of showing that they can contribute even though they’re at homes right now. Click play below to watch the video.
