Stephanie Kilgast Transforms Discarded Books Into Flower Sculptures

It’s always sad to see a book being discarded, sitting on a shelf untouched and forgotten, or, even worse, being thrown away in the garbage. This is why artist Stephanie Kilgast is on a mission to give discarded books a new purpose in the form of artwork.

Kilgast takes books that no one wants and turns them into amazing flower sculptures. The books come to life with colorful flowers, vines, and all sorts of other flora emerging from the pages and covers.

These flower sculptures are part of a larger series of artworks in which Kilgast “saves” discarded objects and allows them to continue their existence as art. Besides serving as a creative outlet for the artist, the series also questions “the lost balance between human activities and nature.”

“Inspired by natural forms, Stephanie Kilgast’s artwork is an ode to nature and its current biodiversity,” it says on the artist’s official website. ”Plants, mushrooms, insects and other animals encounter in a vibrant swirl of colors under her brush or sculpting tools.”

Kilgast’s artworks have been exhibited in art galleries all over the world, including in the United States, Portugal, France, and Australia. The majority of her works are also available on her social media.
