Finding original and unique tattoos isn’t as easy as it seems. But luckily, there are still tattoo artists out there that make an effort to give their clients one-of-a-kind inks that you can’t get anywhere else. One of them is Montreal-based tattoo artist Velco, who is famous for his dotted tattoos.
Velco’s works are easily spotted by their monochromatic look and an image composed by the use of countless tiny ink dots. The subjects of the tattoos vary and go from a peaceful panda taking a rest on a tree branch to a surreal scene of an astronaut stranded in a desert.
According to Velco, he enjoys giving his works an “outer-worldly” touch and sees them as somewhat of a portal to another reality.
“The window frames that I’ve been designing and tattooing have been exactly that, a portal to another reality,” the artist shared with Colossal. “And it’s beautiful to know that there are now multiple portals wandering around the world, providing us with glances to other universes.”
Velco started his career working with fine lines but later shifted to a dotted technique in a wish to develop his unique style. This proved the right decision as he not only managed to elevate his skills to another level but also became recognizable in the tattoo world. Now clients all over the world flock to his studio, wanting to get his signature artworks inked on their skin.
