Recently, one student from Canada decided to wrap up his high school education with a bang. While receiving his diploma during the graduation ceremony, 18-year-old Hunter Wark-Pantoja challenged his principal to a lightsaber duel. And the principal, surprisingly, was down for it and played along. The video of the event quickly surfaced on the internet and is now viral.
The 57-second clip shows Wark-Pantoja getting his name called and shaking hands with school officials. He then walks across the red carpet and reveals a lightsaber under his toga. He hands the weapon from the legendary sci-fi saga Star Wars to his principal and then takes out one for himself.
The two then engaged in a brief duel that ended up with the student “defeating” his principal and walking away victorious.
Speaking with reporters afterward, Wark-Pantoja revealed that he asked the principal earlier this year whether he could bring lightsabers to the graduation ceremony. The principal responded with “maybe,” but the teenager took it as a “yes.” In the end, it all turned great and got him memorable graduation that he’ll probably cherish forever.
“The whole crowd was screaming and applauding – it couldn’t have been a better way to graduate,” Wark-Pantoja recalled.
