]]>A team of volunteers devotes hours to setting up scenes completed with Santa and elves, just so the kids can enjoy a little bit of Christmas magic and get wonderful photos as a memory.
How did it all start? “In 2016 Karen Alsop of Story Art realized there were too many families who couldn’t take their children home to celebrate Christmas together like other families,” the project’s website reads. Her wish to make Christmas joyful for children who spend it in the hospital led to a big project that happens year after year.
Visit the website and check out the photos from the past years, other projects by heART, behind-the-scenes photos, and much more. Find more on their Instagram page, where they regularly post about the latest things they’re up to.

]]>Ilaria Pittana and Ilaria Pitteri combine their talents to bring unique patterns that tell the story of Venice. Their project is called Venice in Pattern and it’s possible thanks to two different points of view. Pittana is an architect who finds interesting landmarks around the city and takes photos of them, and Pitteri, who’s a graphic designer, turns her ideas into modern-looking patterns.
“We love Venice in all its forms. We like historical Venice, under the eyes of all but above all the contemporary and constantly evolving one… the one that deserves to be discovered and valued,” they recently told Tra Realta e Sogno. The inspiration is everywhere, as the city has a lot to offer.
Find the patterns they created so far on their Instagram account. Follow them for more and check out their online shop if you want to buy prints. This is a unique way to check out Venice, and if you had a chance to visit the city before, you’ll appreciate it even more!

]]>If you can’t enjoy the view yourself, you can do that through the lens of photographer Lynda Myszkowski. She captured the beauty of the Chicago skyline and named the photo Bullseye. In her photo, the sun sets behind the city’s Sears Tower. “I’ve been wanting to get this shot for a while and was so excited that we timed it so perfectly,” she tells My Modern Met. “It was an amazing sight to see.”
Another photographer who also took a photo of Chicago from this location, Brandon Eicher, has a tip for anyone who wants to try the same thing. He recommends using a telephoto lens. “I only had a 200 mm lens with me, so I had to crop the final image to magnify the skyline,” he says. “I’d recommend a lens in the 400 – 600 mm range, if you have one.”
The best time to take a magical photo of the Chicago skyline is during the warm months from May to July. During this time, the sun sets directly behind the city’s skyline.

]]>Both of them come from an architectural background. It helps them see the world in a unique way and notice details wherever they go. They are also interested in stories behind different buildings, which inspires them to plan creative photoshoots. Often, they bring props to help set the scene.
Rueda and Davis don’t rely on heavy editing to create surreal art. Instead, they work with what they have in real life, and the planning process often takes a lot of time. They need to plan every single detail and prepare everything they need before starting if they want to make the most out of a certain location.
“We’ve learned that achieving this level of simplicity is really, really complicated,” Rueda tells My Modern Met, “which makes the process of creating each image a completely different and unique adventure!”

]]>His photos show funny situations like a seagull picking up his baby from the beach, or his older kid sitting on top of a ladder and painting a wall with him. He calls the series On Adventure With Dad and it looks like something every kid would appreciate when they grow up.
Deuss first started doing this after his girlfriend wanted to make sure he and the kids were okay when he was with them. “I started making these photos when my girlfriend had to go back to work after maternity leave,” he tells My Modern Met. “Every Tuesday, I have a day off from work to spend time with the kids. But every week my girlfriend asks for a photo to see if the kids are ok. This is when I decided to do something fun with it.”
We can imagine her shock at the beginning before she realized the photos are actually a result of clever photo manipulation!
