This Artist Creates Paintings Inspired By Baroque Style

Artist Ted Pim has been creating moody and atmospheric paintings inspired by The Old Masters that have a religious undertone. Born in Belfast, he has been doing art since his earliest years and adds that he has never lost that excitement.

“My paintings are full of meaning and symbolism and I never really explain each painting—I prefer to let the viewer tell me what they see in the painting,” he said in an interview for My Modern Met. “In my paintings I try to create something beautiful in a destructive manner, someone once said to me ‘imperfect is perfect’ and it’s a small phrase I think about when in full flow.”

In his studio, he has a supporter, a Flat-Coated Retriever called Murphy who is always there to remind him when it is ‘enough’ work.

“I feel that if he wasn’t there, I would be working stupid hours and spend a lot more time in the studio and probably burn myself out,” he added. “It’s good to step away from a painting for a while as I tend to get lost in the detail.”
