This Artist Uses Paper to Create 3D Birds and Butterflies

Inspired by nature, the talented UK-based artist Lisa Lloyd makes enchanting and realistic-looking sculptures of birds and butterflies. All of her creations are made entirely from paper; sculpting the skeleton from a card and embellishing with lighter, more decorative papers. She says that paper is the perfect medium to express the beauty of nature, with its tactile quality and vas range of colors and styles.

“Through practice, I’ve learned how to sculpt the paper so they look like they’re titling and turning their heads, which makes them feel more alive. Also, I try to give the wings the appearance that the birds are ruffling their feathers, also to make them seem more alive,” the artist shared with Colossal.

Besides nature, she seeks inspiration from the design world; fashion, interiors, and graphic design. Her work has been featured in various media all around the world and showcased in European galleries.
