Velvet Meadow is Celebrating the Beauty of Dandelions Through Her Embroidery Art

Most people fail to see the beauty in dandelions because they’re not as rare and romantic as some other flowers, but Aušra Merkelytė isn’t one of them. This embroidery artist goes by Velvet Meadow on Instagram and she’s using her art to pay homage to her favorite flowers.

Merkelytė is based in Vilnius, Lithuania, and she attracted over 40,000 followers to her Instagram page since she started sharing her art a few years ago. She enjoys using velvet as a canvas, but we’ve seen her experiment with many other materials over the years, from tulle to denim.

“I love to create things by my hands, slowly without a rush and impatience, following my mood and magic of a moment. All these moments make my life comfortable, soft, and luxurious as a VELVET!” she explains on her Etsy page.

Merkelytė has been fascinated by dandelions for years, and many of her hoops are inspired by them. She believes that “there is a dandelion for every wish, no matter how big or small”, and she’s hoping her art will help you make those wishes come true.

Even though dandelions happen to be Merkelytė’s favorite, she’s no stranger to embroidering other things. We’ve seen her create embroidery with all sorts of other flowers and plants, but she’s especially fond of celebrating the beauty of feathers through her work.
