Watch as Two Dogs Maintain Long-Distance Friendship via Video Calls

Thanks to video calls, we can stay in touch with people we care about, even if they are far away. But as it turns out, this technology also helps to maintain friendships between dogs.

Two dogs, Rollo and Sadie, recently became huge internet stars after their adorable FaceTime exchange was posted on TikTok. In the clip, which got almost 25 million views, both Rollo and Sadie can’t contain their excitement after seeing each other on the computer screens.

“When you really miss your bestie,” says the video caption.

Rollo, a rottweiler-shepherd mix, and Sadie, a husky-German shepherd mix, met each other when their owners were living in the same apartment building in Edmonton, Canada, during the pandemic. At first, the two canines were a bit cautious around each other but eventually warmed up to one another and went to become best friends.

Unfortunately, Rollo recently had to relocate to Calgary when his human Caitlin Banks got a new job and was forced to leave his bestie. Surprisingly, however, that wasn’t the end of the heartwarming friendship.

Banks and Sadie’s owner Kayla McTeer have remained in touch via FaceTime and noticed that their dogs loved to jump in front of the camera to get a quick glance of each other too. This prompted them to start Thursday Facetime, during which the dogs can “talk” via video camera each week. Banks and McTeer also made a TikTok account for the two, where they share Rollo and Sadie’s interactions.

“It’s fun to get the world’s reaction from it, and to share their relationship with the world,” McTeer told City News.
