Weatherman Saves a Chicken from a Blizzard, Now They Are Best Friends

During his 40 years as a weatherman, Tennessee native David Neal thought he had pretty much seen it all. But the sight of a chicken in a blizzard even caught him by surprise.

Back in January 2022, Neal was doing live coverage of a big snowstorm that hit the state when he noticed an unusual bystander in the background. A little chicken was running around and seemed quite lost in all the snow.

Neal stepped in, catching the chicken and getting her into his car so she could get warm. He even went on live TV with her, hoping he could help her get back to its home.

“During my live shot, a chicken walked up to me in about seven inches of snow. So I picked the chicken up, and we’re really good friends now. So if you lost a chicken maybe you can give me a call,” told the viewers at the time.

When no one called about the lost chicken, Neal and his roommate Sharon brought her to their home. The chicken, now called Penelope, became their best friend in the meantime and got fully accustomed to a life as a pet.

Penelope and Neal recently celebrated the one-year anniversary of their friendship with a compilation of all their adventures. This included canoeing, doing weather podcasts, and much more. Check it out below and see what it looks like to have a chicken as your best friend.
