97-Year-Old Gymnast Becomes Internet Sensation Once Again Thanks to Viola Davis

People stop doing certain things as they age because they believe they are “too old” for them. But there are plenty of examples that show us age is really just a number.

Actress Viola Davis, who won an Academy Award for her role in the period drama Fences, recently shared an inspiring clip on her social media that shows a gymnast Johanna Quaas performing in a gymnastics competition at the age of 91.

“Umm…..Johanna? You are my spirit warrior!! Wow!! GOALS!!!!,” wrote Davis in the caption of the video.

The video quickly became viral and left internet users in awe of Quaas’ abilities and motivation at such an advanced age. It even prompted some of Davis’ followers to start exercising.

“Wow!! I’m feeling so bad sitting here on my butt! Think I’ll go ride my bike! Thanks for the motivation!” one Instagram user wrote.

It turns out that this isn’t the first time that Quaas, who turned 97 in November 2022, has impressed the internet. She previously became an internet sensation in 2012 when clips of her performing demanding routines at Turnier Der Meister in Cottbus surfaced online. That same year, Quaas was recognized by the Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest active competitive gymnast.

Quaas doesn’t compete anymore but remains active. She frequently updates her social media with clips of her performing various exercises and playing sports.
