Beyoncé recently announced she’s embarking on Renaissance World Tour, and the shiny hat from the poster caught everyone’s eye. Abby Misbin was responsible for creating this disco ball-inspired hat for Queen B, and her Etsy page has been flooded with orders ever since.
Misbin is a 24-year-old fashion designer based in Philadelphia, and she started making hats as a side hustle following her graduation in 2021. She created a mirror-sequined cowboy hat for Beyoncé after her stylist contacted her online and it took her about six hours to complete it.
“Honestly, it read like a scam message. I shouldn’t have believed it as quickly as I did… I was so worried that the shipping would be delayed or something would happen that I just stayed up all night to finish it,” Misbin told BBC.
Misbin charged Beyoncé’s team $215 for the hat, in addition to $60 for express shipping, and she couldn’t believe her eyes after seeing it on the poster for Beyoncé’s upcoming tour. She’s now flooded with orders on her Etsy page, and she even had to create a restock alert because so many people want their own disco ball hat.
Even though Misbin played an instrumental role in creating a piece of Beyoncé’s Renaissance styling, she might not be able to see her perform live. The tickets were very hard to get, but she jokingly told BBC she can always stand outside the stadiums, selling hats with her friends.
