Most home cats are suspicious of outsiders, especially if that outsider is of the same species as them. But this doesn’t mean that they can’t warm up to other cats that enter their family.
TikToker @meghulme recently shared an adorable video that documents how her adult cat and newcomer, kitten Marley, ended up becoming friends. And they apparently only needed a week to do so.
The clip starts with an introduction that didn’t exactly go well. The older cat started hissing at the “intruder”, and it seemed like @meghulme would be in for everyday catfights. But as the video progresses, we see that won’t be the case.
At first, the older cat ignores the newcomer. She then seems to tolerate Marley’s existence while becoming increasingly curious about the kitten. The curiosity quickly transitions to friendship, with the two later being shown sharing quite a few affectionate moments.
“Lots of time and effort went into getting them to like each other,” explained their owner in the comments section.
The video documenting the cat and kitten becoming friends turned out to be quite popular. It currently has more than seven million views and counting. Check it out in full below.
