Embroidery has been around for centuries, and it’s often considered an old-fashioned art form, but Giselle Quinto is here to change that. She’s using her body of work to celebrate the female form and celebrate womanhood in the most glorious way.

According to her official website, Quinto’s “work brings an anarchic view to classic embroidery, revisiting old traditions and transforming it in protest for equality, where all have the right to be and live whoever they are.”

Simply put, this means that the female characters in her work walk a fine line between strength and fragility, pushing aside whatever society tells them they should do or be, and doing whatever they please.

Some of them are mothers, others are single and thriving. Some have their hair carefully braided, while others prefer to let it loose. Some spend their days reading and taking care of their plants, while others would rather grab cocktails with their besties. All of them coexist in perfect harmony with each other – sometimes within the same person because there’s an incredible duality to every woman that people often fail to see… but not Giselle Quinto.

She sees women for all they are, were, and have the potential to become, and that’s why her embroidery became such a huge sensation. Her hoops are the very definition of girl power, and you’ll see your mother, your sister, your best friend, or simply yourself while looking at them.

Camila Hurst struggled with depression and anxiety after leaving her home country of Brazil, but she eventually found a fantastic coping mechanism. She turned to baking to cope with her darkest days and this new hobby eventually led her to some of her brightest moments.

Baking is basically a part of Hurst’s DNA since her grandparents used to run a bakery just a few blocks from her house in Brazil. She spent her childhood playing with dough, surrounded by flour and fresh pastries, and was always in awe of her grandma who spent fifty years waking up before the sun to bake fresh bread.

Baking later became Hurst’s own way to express her creativity, especially after she packed her whole life in a suitcase and moved to the US in 2001.

“I worked as a waitress for 7 years, I had extreme depression and anxiety and started baking in 2015 as a way of coping… Soon my baking dream became too small for my little New York kitchen (where I lived at the time) so I decided to start sharing with the world,” she explained on her blog.

Hurst has been running her food blog Pies & Tacos since 2017, and she built quite a following in the years to come, attracting over 230,000 followers to her Instagram page.

Some illustrators have the power to transport us into brand-new worlds with their art, and that’s certainly the case with Kei-Ella Loewe. She specializes in crafting whimsical digital illustrations that perfectly capture her inner battles, while also looking straight out of this world.

Loewe is a South African illustrator and graphic designer based in the Netherlands, but her academic background actually has nothing to do with digital art. She majored in theatre and performance at the University of Cape Town and spent many years working in this field, in such roles as senior stage manager, production assistant, and even creative director.

Loewe decided to branch out during the Covid pandemic and started teaching herself how to draw and design digitally. In less than two years, she developed a quite distinctive personal style and attracted over 50,000 followers to her Instagram page.

“I create dreamy images using bright colors, the female form, and natural elements. With each drawing, I am attempting to learn how to unlock my creativity and express my emotional and psychological landscape,” she explains on her official website.

One of the reasons why people connect with her art so deeply are lengthy captions that follow most of her Instagram posts. She’s not afraid to bare her soul and explain how her inner battles impacted her work, and that’s what makes her illustrations so magnetic.

The Philippines is a tropical paradise brimming with breathtaking landscapes, diverse cultures, and unforgettable experiences. With more than 7,000 islands to explore, each offering its own unique charm, it’s easy to see why this archipelago is one of Asia’s most sought-after travel destinations. Whether you’re an adventure seeker, a culture enthusiast, or simply looking to unwind by pristine beaches, the Philippines has something to offer everyone.

The Allure of Palawan: A Hidden Gem

Palawan, often hailed as the “last frontier” of the Philippines, is a must-visit destination for any traveler. This island province boasts crystal-clear waters, dramatic limestone cliffs, and some of the world’s most untouched beaches. In fact, Palawan’s natural beauty has earned its spot on global travel lists, including being named one of the best islands in the world by Travel + Leisure.

Beyond its stunning beaches, Palawan is also home to diverse ecosystems, including lush jungles, unique wildlife, and awe-inspiring underground rivers. The Puerto Princesa Underground River, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is one of the longest navigable rivers in the world, offering visitors a chance to explore subterranean caves and observe the area’s rich biodiversity.

Rich Culture and Warm Hospitality

The Philippines isn’t just about beautiful scenery; it’s also a land steeped in rich culture and history. The country’s diverse cultural heritage reflects the influences of indigenous tribes, Spanish colonization, and American rule, all of which have shaped its traditions, food, and festivals.

One of the best ways to immerse yourself in Filipino culture is through its vibrant festivals. From the colorful Sinulog Festival in Cebu to the lively Ati-Atihan Festival in Kalibo, there’s always a celebration happening somewhere in the country. These festivals offer a unique opportunity to experience Filipino music, dance, and food, all while engaging with locals who are known for their warmth and hospitality.

Sustainable Travel in the Philippines

As tourism continues to grow, the Philippines has made significant strides toward sustainable travel. Efforts are underway to preserve its natural landscapes and reduce the environmental impact of tourism. The government has implemented eco-friendly practices in popular destinations like Boracay and Palawan, aiming to ensure that future generations can continue to enjoy these pristine locations.

For eco-conscious travelers, there are plenty of ways to explore the Philippines responsibly. Consider staying in eco-resorts, participating in beach clean-ups, or visiting protected areas where conservation efforts are actively taking place. The Philippines is increasingly becoming a destination where travelers can have a meaningful, sustainable impact while enjoying the splendor of nature.

Adventure Awaits: From Mountains to Oceans

For those seeking adventure, the Philippines offers a wide range of activities. Whether it’s hiking to the top of Taal Volcano, surfing the waves in Siargao, or diving in the world-renowned Tubbataha Reefs Natural Park, there’s no shortage of ways to get your adrenaline pumping.

The Philippines is also home to some of the best diving spots in the world. The Tubbataha Reefs, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is one of the most biodiverse marine environments on the planet, while destinations like Anilao and Moalboal are perfect for exploring vibrant coral reefs and swimming with sea turtles and exotic fish.

A Journey of Discovery

Whether you’re exploring its stunning landscapes, immersing yourself in its vibrant festivals, or engaging in sustainable travel practices, there’s something for everyone in this diverse and welcoming country. Where would we be without coffee? This awesome drink helps us start our morning the right way, gets us through the day, and gives us energy for everything in between. But this isn’t all of it. Coffee apparently can also be used for paintings as the work of Italian artist Giulia Bernardelli shows.

Bernardelli is a coffee aficionado who drinks her first-morning coffee and spills the second one on canvas. Curiously, this is how her venture into coffee art started.

One day she was enjoying a cup of coffee while trying to start on a new painting. She ended up spilling the coffee on the canvas by accident, and an idea was born. Instead of cleaning the coffee from canvas, she started using her teaspoon as a brush and figured the drink worked remarkably well as paint.

Bernardelli continued spilling coffee on the canvas, but this time on purpose. This led to the creation of impressive paintings that became her calling card. Another unique thing about her creative process is that she never plans her next artwork. Instead, she lets coffee splashes decide for her.

“My future starts when I wake up every morning. Every day I find something creative to do with my life,” Bernardelli describes her approach.

Check out more of her intriguing artworks below.

Tears of Llorona has been awarded the prestigious title of “Tequila of the Year” for 2024 by the Beverage Testing Institute (BTI), cementing its position as one of the finest examples of tequila craftsmanship in the world, as Forbes reported. This recognition highlights the brand’s unwavering commitment to producing a tequila of unparalleled quality, showcasing the mastery behind every bottle.

What’s So Special About Tears of Llorona

Produced by the renowned Master Distiller Germán González Gorrochotegui, Tears of Llorona stands out in the crowded world of tequila for its meticulous production process. The tequila is made from 100% pure Weber Agave Azul, which is cultivated in the rich volcanic soils of Mexico’s highlands. These unique growing conditions allow the agave to mature slowly, enriching its flavor profile and creating the ideal foundation for a complex, high-quality spirit. The agave is then carefully distilled before undergoing an exceptional aging process in three types of barrels: Scotch, Sherry, and Brandy casks. This distinctive maturation method imparts a broad spectrum of flavors that elevate the tequila to a category of its own.

The resulting Tears of Llorona Extra Añejo offers a complex and rich flavor profile that has captivated tequila connoisseurs. Tasting notes include black cherries, vanilla, honeysuckle, and apples, followed by a smooth, velvety finish of chocolate, toffee, and crème brûlée. These deep, layered flavors come together to create an extraordinary sipping experience, one that continues to impress even the most discerning palates.

Jerald O’Kennard, President of the Chicago-based Beverage Testing Institute spoke with Forbes about BevTest’s Top Ten Tequilas and the trend in agave spirits.

“While the growth of Tequila is well known, especially in the premium Añejo and Extra Añejo categories, Mezcal has been growing even faster, albeit from a small base. What’s even more significant is the growing popularity of regional Mexican agave spirits. Consumers in the United States, and increasingly worldwide, are discovering Sotol, Bacanora, Raicilla, and other previously obscure Mexican regional agave spirits, making them part of a growing trend in the agave industry.”

Despite its accolades, Tears of Llorona remains a limited-production spirit, making it a rare and sought-after bottle. However, it is available for purchase through select retailers and online platforms. For those looking to experience this award-winning tequila, it’s recommended to check with local liquor stores or visit the brand’s official website for purchasing options.

List of BevTest’s Top 10 Tequilas and Mezcal of 2024:

Fascinated by old technology, Montreal, Canada-based artist Nicolas Temese is creating miniature replicas of old computers, vintage keyboards, and hard drives. His works are built from scratch and extremely detailed, with the goal of preserving the history of early computing.

Temese has a day job as a technical director at an animation studio. When he gets back home, he spends hours researching the old manuals and literature and looking at the photos of the vintage computers so he can recreate them in his miniatures.

Temese is so dedicated to his project because of his passion for early computing and fascination with the inner workings of old technology.

“The desire to create intricate and detail work, finding ways of making the most accurate miniature possible is what drives me,” he explains on his website.

His miniatures, ranging from 1:10 to 1:16 scale, are mostly made with polystyrene sheets and polymer clay. They are processed with sandpaper and coated with paint to receive a realistic look.

Because they are so detailed and intricate, Temese can take months to finish a single miniature. Some of his projects even took more than half a year to be completed.

Temese shares his works on social media and offers them for purchase to interested collectors and vintage technology enthusiasts. Check out more of them below.

Two rare portraits made by Dutch Golden Age painter Rembrandt have recently been discovered in a private collection. The portraits, each measuring around 8 inches in height, are soon set to be offered at an auction by Christie’s and could fetch anywhere from $6.25 million to $10 million.

The portraits show Rembrandt’s relatives Jan Willemsz van der Pluym and his wife Jaapgen Carels, according to the auction house. They were signed by the painter and dated to 1635.

The paintings remained in the family until the mid-18th century, after which they changed hands several times. The last time they surfaced was in 1824, when they were purchased by a British family and made part of their collection.

During the assessment of the family’s possessions, the expert noticed the portraits and brought them back to the spotlight. They were with the family for so long that they became unknown to the modern art world.

The two portraits, considered the smallest Rembrandt ever painted, will make rounds in New York City and Amsterdam in June before making their way to London for auction on July 6.

Henry Pettifer, who serves as international deputy chair of Old Master paintings at Christie’s, told CNN that the members of the family were not aware of the value of portraits.

“The pictures were immediately of terrific interest,” Pettifer told the media outlet. “I don’t think they had looked into it. They didn’t have expectations for the paintings.”

If you’re in the mood to escape the real world and travel to surreal futuristic landscapes, Xsullo’s illustrations will get you there. His punk-inspired works of art exist in the space where vivid colors and surrealism come together to create something out of this world.

Xsullo is the alter ego of the visual artist Nick Sullo, who started working on this project alongside his wife in 2015. He studied at the Academy of Fine Art in San Francisco and started his career as a visual effects artist in Hollywood before deciding to do his own thing.

According to the artist’s official website, he “thematically explores a cybernetic post-gender Punk world with a focus on how technology affects the human body on a personal or social level” and enjoys “documenting everything that concerns current events and touches us as human beings.”

Xsullo uses 3D software to bring his illustrations to life, before coloring and lightening the scene and drawing over the image in Manga Studio. His artwork is often inspired by internal struggles he’s facing and he’s using it as a coping mechanism.

Even though he’s primarily a digital artist, who enjoys experimenting with NFTs and crypto art, Xsullo is no stranger to traditional mediums and he enjoys recreating some of his art with acrylic and spray paint.
