]]>Abdullatif takes everyday saying and phrases and turns them into pun-filled illustrations. His works are minimalistic but filled with characters that will both make you laugh and charm you with their cute looks.
When browsing through Abdullatif’s works, you’ll encounter phrases that you probably use every day. However, there is a chance that you’ll start thinking about them in a different way and have to battle the urge not to chuck next time you or someone else mentions them.
For example, the phrase “I’d be lost without you” is illustrated using two happy socks. An illustration of two glass panels, one clear and the other tinted, illustrates, “I want to be perfectly clear with you.”
Aside from these charming and funny cartoons, Abdullatif, who has 12 years of experience in graphic design and illustrations, also creates all sorts of conceptual and vector art. ]]>Long’s pieces often look like pieces found in some fantasy movies with their uneven shapes and unusual curves. She adorns them with intricate details and imagery that comes from nature. This can include leaves, blooming flowers, rabbits delightfully hopping against a vase, and much more.
“I am inspired by botanical life and hidden aspects of nature,” she shares on her website. “I emulate my inspirations with an elaborate flow of shape, line, and texture. My work begins with shape and form. Depth is added through texture. Intricate slip application and glazing bring organic unity to the finished piece.”
Long constantly adjust her creative process to get the best possible results. She uses a variety of techniques, whichever is best fitted for a particular piece, which adds to the variety and diversity of her pottery.
Long’s works have been exhibited in galleries and museums across the United States in recent years, and the artist also gladly shares them on social media. Check out more of these whimsical pieces below.

]]>The post NY Bakery Becomes Viral After Making John Oliver Cake Bear appeared first on https://everydaymonkey.com.
]]>It all started when the show won an auction to acquire the contents of a closed Red Lobster in Kingston as part of a segment on the restaurant’s struggles. But when the staff came to pick everything up, they found a hand-written note on a door from a Deising’s owner, who inquired about getting some kitchen equipment for his own establishment.
Since the show already donated the equipment, Oliver made a proposal to Deising’s; he would purchase the equipment they needed under the condition that they make a cake bear with his face and put it on sale.
The bakery jumped on the opportunity and started selling the cakes the very next day. Additionally, they created a large-scale cake replica of Oliver as a bear. The Last Week Tonight host was delighted, but so were the local foodies and social media users with Deising’s going viral.
Deising’s John Oliver cake bears were flying off the shelves, with the bakery turning it into a noble cause and donating all the proceeds to a local food bank. Oliver later also pitched in with a donation of $10,000.
So, if you find yourself in Kingston, make sure to visit Deising’s and try their new cake bears. They are apparently quite good.

]]>Considering that Papa Legba left the house wearing nothing but its fur, this naturally stirred up the TikToker’s curiosity. The mystery became even more intriguing when that happened several more times, prompting @wedonotownacat to share the story in a video posted on social media.
“Whose litterbox have your paws been in? Mom reports he has never allowed them to put sweaters on him before,” @wedonotownacat captioned the clip.
Determined to get to the bottom of this, @wedonotownacat devised a plan to get more familiar with their neighbors and try to see where Papa Legba found his other family. She baked some cookies and gave them around the neighborhood while asking around, but had little success.
Other TikTok users were just as fascinated with the mystery, with some theories offered in the comments section.
“Maybe kitty has been out shopping, check your credit cards,” one user jokingly commented.
Others suggested putting a note on Papa Legba’s collar and see whether the cat’s second family responds.
Hopefully, this mystery gets solved quickly because we are also eager to find out more about Papa Legba’s secret life.

]]>Richter decided to create a sculpture of Rocket Raccoon from Marvel’s popular franchise Guardians of the Galaxy. The Long Island-based artist documented the entire process in a video posted on YouTube, and it is quite an impressive watch.
“I’ve been making and creating since I was a kid, and my YouTube channel is the culmination of 25 years of dabbling in all mediums of art,” Richter shares.
Richter first sculpts the Rocket Raccoon from clay before making a silicon mold. After the mold is done, he uses it to cast a plastic sculpture of the character’s head. But this is only the beginning.
After creating the base, Richter meticulously paints the sculpture, fits the Rocket Raccoon with his fur, and even hand-makes his signature armor. The end result is simply jaw-dropping.
Richter later uploaded a video on his TikTok profile in which he introduced the Rocket Raccoon sculpture to his cat to a hilarious result.

]]>Earlier in June, British auction house Christie’s announced that it would offer one of Basquiat’s most-intriguing works at an upcoming auction. It is a portrait of legendary painter Pablo Picasso, which Basquiat painted in 1984 as a 23-year-old.
Basquiat never shied away from admitting that Picasso had a big influence on him as an artist. In one of his interviews, Basquiat revealed that seeing Picasso’s Guernica was his “favorite thing when I was a kid,” while curator Diego Cortez once called him “Black Picasso.”
According to Christie’s, Basquiat likely painted his portrait of Picasso by combining two different visual sources. One was a portrait of fifteen-year-old Picasso from the late 19th century, while the other was his photograph in a now-iconic Breton shirt.
Untitled (Pablo Picasso, 1984) was done on a square metal panel with oil, acrylic, and oil stick. It was the last time offered at an auction in 2007 when the current owner acquired it. The new offering will be in late June when the painting is expected to reach a sale price between $5.7 million and $7.6 million.

]]>As part of Public Art Abu Dhabi, Denevan created land artwork that consists of 448 sand pyramids positioned in a way that they form a massive mandala. The pyramids are positioned in 19 rings and cover around 0.4 square miles.
“As I draw and shape these forms, an invitation is made, it emerges. An ‘entering into’ takes place. A centering. Scale, presence, human, and otherwise. External is internal and internal is external. That which expires and that which is eternal, a simultaneity, within and without,” Denevan described his creative process behind the project.
According to the artist, “Self Similar” will eventually “fall apart” due to strong sandstorms. However, until they do, they are bound to amaze a lot of people.
The installation is located on Fahid Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and the visitors can walk between the pyramids for an immersive experience. There are also a couple of observation platforms that allow observation of the mesmerizing mandala pattern.
This remarkable artwork is also illuminated by night, adding a dimension of light art.

Some of Karlgren’s artwork ends up being offered on his website, but a large part of it ends up on the street as a way to give some life to the urban surroundings. For example, there are more than 500 of his artworks scattered around his hometown.
In a chat with Urban Nation, Karlgren revealed that he got an art degree but initially decided to focus on skating and video games. He only returned to art when he started beading with his kids and now enjoys every moment of it.
Karlgren’s main source of inspiration is video games, but there are all sorts of other things that he likes to capture with beads.
“Also movies from the eighties, stuff that Trump is doing, and political events,” he shared. “Generally, I enjoy doing stuff that is up to date.”
