Ciara Johnson Left Her HR Job To Travel the World on Her Own

We all reach a point when we’re fed up with our job, but Ciara Johnson decided to actually do something about it. She quit her job in corporate human resources to travel the world on her own over five years ago, and she’s been doing it ever since.

Back in 2017, Johnson wrote her very first post on her blog Hey Ciara, where she announced she quit her job, moved out of her apartment, packed her brand-new backpack, and hit the road to explore Latin America for three months. She’s been on the road ever since, but her love for travel started blooming long before this trip.

She was 20 when she traveled out of the US for the first time, and headed to Panama to teach basic accounting to indigenous communities. This trip changed her perspective on life, and she spent her next two birthdays in India and South Africa.

She tried to make travel a priority following her college graduation but found herself unfulfilled in her corporate job. She saved as much money as possible and decided to leave it all behind to travel the world.

“Travel helped me take the leap. Travel has constantly pushed me outside of my comfort zone, reminded me that everything will be okay in the end, and shown me that the world truly is our oyster,” she wrote on her blog.
