The founder of Pottaruu Ceramic Studio started her Instagram page in 2020, shortly after taking her first pottery class. She enjoyed spending her lockdowns working on pottery and significantly honed her skills during this time, slowly switching from magnets to mugs and plates.
As her skillset became richer, so did the catalog of products she had in store. She initially made cups with simple prints that celebrated nature and female form, but eventually started focusing on more complex and detailed drawings.
At one point, she decided to pay homage to some of her favorite movies and TV shows through her mugs, and she’s been doing it ever since. From Friends, Daria, and Stranger Things to Sailor Moon and Studio Ghibli films, we’ve seen her explore many pop culture phenomena through her art.
Pottaruu is based in Bali, Indonesia, but she ships her creations worldwide. Her ceramics are 100% food-safe, but she advises against microwave and dishwasher use because high temperatures can lead to stress fractures over time.
