Surprisingly, the ÜberFacts Twitter account isn’t dedicated to facts about the ride-share platform Uber. It isn’t even associated in any way with Uber. We know, we were surprised ourselves. Instead, it’s a project of one man who just wanted to entertain people with some fun facts.
ÜberFacts was created by Kris Sanchez back in 2009. Having some extra time on his hands, Sanchez decided to set up an account and shower people with some random facts he thought would be interesting. It turned out that other Twitter users were “hungry” for fun facts that they would probably never use, and the account started growing at an unprecedented speed.
One of the reasons for ÜberFacts’ success, besides the natural curiosity of people, is that the facts are presented in a really digestible way. It is one or two lines of text, straight to the point and without any fluff.
Since its inception, ÜberFacts has grown to more than 13 million followers on Twitter alone. It has a huge following on other social media, including two million on Instagram, and has its own designated app.
