Impressive Art Installation in the UK Draws Attention to 243 Endangered Species

Award-winning British artist Es Devlin recently created an impressive art installation with the goal of drawing attention to endangered species in the United Kingdom. The installation, titled “Come Home Again,” features drawings of 243 flora and fauna specimens that are at some risk of being extinct.

The drawings that make up “Come Home Again” cover a domed model of London’s St. Paul’s Cathedral. The installation, located in the front of the Tate Modern gallery, also features a light effect that casts shadows of the drawings on the back wall of the model and gives them an even bigger focus.

Devlin made all the drawings, which feature birds, beetles, and flowers, while also building the cathedral model herself with the use of recycled materials.

“The work invites us to see, hear and feel our home, our city, as an interconnected web of species and cultures, to learn and remember the names and sing those under threat into continued existence,” Devlin said about her creation, which was done in collaboration with fashion brand Cartier.

The visitors can learn more about the project and endangered species by scanning a QR code that is placed on the installation. They will also be able to witness performances from UK choral groups, who will take part in the project by performing traditional Choral Evensong.
