Iowa Sports Reporter Couldn’t Stop Complaining While Reporting the Weather

Iowa-based CNN affiliate KWWL experienced a staff shortage in their weather department at the worst time possible: during a huge snowstorm that has wreaked havoc on various parts of the United States. The management acted quickly and got sports reporter Mark Woodley to fill in for some fieldwork. This decision resulted in some of the best moments on TV this year.

Woodley tried to do his job to the best of his abilities, but he also made sure to show that he wasn’t happy about it. He complained the entire time and made sarcastic remarks that you wouldn’t exactly expect from a weather reporter. After finishing the task, he created a video of his best bits and posted it on Twitter.

“What better time to ask the sports guy to come in about 5 hours earlier than he would normally wake up, go stand out in the wind and the snow and the cold, and tell other people not to do the same?” Woodley said. “I didn’t even realize that there was a 3:30 also in the morning until today.”

“The good news is that I can still feel my face right now. The bad news is I kind of wish I couldn’t,” he adds later on.

Woodley’s unusual style of reporting became an immediate hit with the viewers. The post he shared on social media was viewed by 33 million people and has 223K likes at the moment.

Unfortunately, this might be all we see from Woodley when it comes to weather reporting. In a subsequent interview with CNN, he explained reporting on the weather was his “absolute nightmare.” He did, however, added that he would be ready to step in again in case of need.
