Instagram is home to many talented lettering and typography masterminds, but Lauren Hom is taking this art form to new heights. She’s blending graphic design and food art into one, to craft some of the most deliciously-looking food lettering art that you’ll ever come across.
Even though her creations exist at the intersection between food and graphic design, they have nothing to do with her educational background. She actually majored in creative advertising and leveraged her knowledge in this area to find success with hand lettering, drawing over 260,000 followers to her Instagram page @homsweethom.
Hom is a firm believer in constantly changing, evolving, and finding ways to switch up her style. She started incorporating food in her typography art while looking for new mediums to explore through her work.
“I’ve been experimenting with food lettering and paper, just making lettering out of materials that I might not normally use because I think changing up your medium is an instant way to change up your style,” Hom told Creative Boom.
Her love for food extends beyond what we see on her Instagram page. She always enjoyed cooking on the side, and she’s planning to attend culinary school, in the hope it will expand her creative skill set and allow her to explore the intersection between graphic design and culinary arts even further.
