As Marianne Gauthier states in the bio of her Instagram account, she’s “a published digital and mixed media artist,” and her creations “are an eclectic blend of digital, fantasy, whimsical, steampunk and grunge.” We always appreciate an artist who knows how to brand themselves, and if you ask any marketing expert, they’ll tell you that a big part of getting yourself out there is knowing your brand. Marianne Gauthier clearly knows what kind of artist she is, and judging by the works she’s putting out, it’s certainly coming through in her art.
Sometimes a piece of art just hits you to the point where there are really no words to describe what you’re seeing. This is very much the experience we get when looking at Gauthier’s work, but in the best way. The beauty is definitely there, but in a grungy way, as she so aptly describes. Her methods for texture and expression show themselves strongly within her work, and the results are simple for the viewer to enjoy.
This, we believe, is the ultimate goal for any artist, no matter how far out they may be. It doesn’t matter how unconventional the artist is—if the viewer isn’t picking up on the message in a simple way, it’s not an ideal result. But in Gauthier’s case, there is a perfect blend of complexity and simplicity, and her followers are loving every minute of it.
