Prudence Flint Portrays Female Figures Performing Daily Tasks in the 21st Century

Prudence Flint is a Melbourne-based artist who uses female figures in her artwork. She creates minimalistic paintings by mixing pastels and flat colors and geometric shapes. Scrolling through her Instagram gallery you can see images of women breastfeeding, lying down, and brushing their hair or teeth. She says that she mostly centers on female figures because “I want to give voice to this experience of being alive, now, in this culture as a woman.”

“As a woman, I feel constantly up against the idea of what is meant to be happening to me versus what is actually happening to me … I think I have found a solution by distorting the bodies, which becomes representative of what experience does to you. It marks you and creates emotional weight,” the artist told in an interview for Juxtapoz.

Her art pieces have been published in media all around the globe and Flint also held exhibitions in various galleries, both locally and internationally.
