Renata Krawczyk Uses a Sketchbook as Her Canvas

Renata Krawczyk describes herself as a graphic designer, illustrator, and plant lover who creates fairytale-inspired illustrations using only ink and pen. The talented Polish artist draws detailed images in her sketchbook by combining various textures, like stippling and hatching to create the perfect black and white contrast.

“When I draw, I start with a tiny dot,” the artist told My Modern Met. “Then, slowly, I fill it in with detail. The tinier elements I create, the more satisfied I am. I just love using textures and I often reinvent them. My favorite, however, is using tiny circles.”

Krawczyk, who graduated from Strzemiński Academy of Fine Art is currently living and working in the city of Lódź. Browsing through her Instagram gallery, you will encounter characters from fairy-tales, like Alice in Wonderland or Cinderella.
