Sarah Sumeray is Reimagining Pop Culture Icons as Vintage Cartoons

We are always amazed how artists are able to take something familiar and turn it into something completely new using their endless creativity. One of the artists who does this in a great way is Sarah Sumeray.

Sumeray is a talented London-based artist who reimagines pop culture as vintage cartoons. Her works are inspired by vintage comics and rubber hose animation style, giving the subjects we know and love, a whole new feel.

Sumeray, who also successfully does voiceover work and is an accomplished writer, is covering a wide range of pop culture in her works. This includes reimagining Shelley Duvall’s Wendy Torrance in The Shining, creating a retro poster for a fictional Britney Spears tour in the 1970s, and giving Pennywise from popular horror franchise IT a retro makeover.

“My work aims to feature all you’d expect from aged kids’ comics—including faded halftones, paper folds, and tears, “Sumeray shares. “All my work is created digitally and is influenced by the many comics taking over my home. “

Sumeray frequently updates her social media with her newest pop culture vintage cartoon art. She also offers commission works for those who would like to see their favorite pop culture figures go vintage. Check out more of her creations below.
