Sasha Kruglikova Uses Clay to Craft Cute and Quirky Animal Sculptures

Many ceramic artists use animals as their main source of inspiration, and Sasha Kruglikova happens to be one of them. There’s something truly adorable about her clay creations that represent a perfect blend between flora and fauna.

Ceramic pieces with lifelike expressions experienced a huge rise in popularity in the past few months, and the list of pottery artists who make them is pretty much endless. What differentiates Kruglikova from most of them is the fact she doesn’t focus on human faces, and usually uses animals as her subject matter.

There are exceptions to this rule, but Kruglikova’s sculptures usually take the form of bulls and lions. Most people see them as crude and beastly animals, but this Russian artist is presenting them in a whole new light and making them seem gentler by putting flower crowns on their heads.

Kruglikova told Fourline Design that she enjoys the combination of masculine and feminine, strength and weakness, and her work embraces these principles. The animals that are generally seen as savage and dangerous look almost serine in the form of Kruglikova’s mugs, vases, and other ceramic pieces.
