Illustrator and surface pattern designer Mia Charro didn’t attend art school, but that didn’t stop her from becoming a professional illustrator. She always liked drawing but never thought it would turn into a career. She changed her mind after discovering software like Photoshop and it’s an amazing option for undoing moves and solve mistakes.
After practicing a lot, Charro applied her new skills to her job where she was supposed to find appropriate images on stock sites, but her bosses were open to the idea of her drawing them herself. At the time, she was making a lot of stock-style illustrations which is why she loves exploring freestyle now that she works for herself.
Her other passions include nature and yoga. She’s a strong believer in the importance of a positive mentality. “I believe that a well-directed mind is like a ship with a good captain. It can go wherever it wants,” she writes on her website.
