]]>This effect of Dias’ works isn’t by accident. This talented artist, who also paints and does ceramics, is an avid traveler. She draws inspiration from her past travels for her works and, at the same time, gets to relive some of the cherished memories while the artworks take shape.
“I feel sort of homesick for certain cities, and I get the urge to want to translate my memories of what all my senses experienced in my time there to canvas and thread,” she explained in a recent chat with My Modern Met.
While the quality of her work would indicate that she has been doing embroidery for a long time, the fact is that she only picked it up a couple of years ago. She was trying to find a creative outlet during the coronavirus pandemic, and figured embroidery is a fun practice she could try.
It turned out Dias had quite a knack for threads, allowing her to develop her own distinctive style. Thanks to positive comments from social media users, she decided to continue focusing on embroidery. The California-based artist now sells her works on Etsy and regularly shares new creations on Instagram. Check more of them below.

]]>Embroidery collective from XQ Vietnam uses a technique known as thread painting embroidery for their artworks. With this technique, which involves creating stitch layers in different colors, embroidery artists manage to create pieces that have a painting-like effect. It isn’t until you touch the work that you realize each line and shape is actually made using needle and fiber.
Given the incredibly detailed and complexity of their embroidery art, creating each piece requires a lot of patience and time. Even a minor mistake requires the artist to start from scratch. This is why some pieces can take weeks to complete while others spend months in the crafting process.
Nature, landscapes, and animals are the main subjects of XQ Vietnam embroidery. They usually depict lifelike scenes such as a kingfisher bird diving in the water to grab a fish or flock of cranes resting on a lotus flower-filled lake.

]]>Saunders wanted to establish her own creative brand ever since getting a degree in fashion design back in 2010, but she eventually found herself in a different walk of life. After doing several fast-paced jobs in London, she found her inner peace after turning to embroidery and eventually decided to start her company, Sew & Saunders.
This wasn’t Saunders’s first encounter with embroidery. Both her mother and grandmother were incredibly talented seamstresses, and she started embroidering when she was only 12.
A single glance at her work makes it pretty clear where Saunders looks for inspiration. She’s a huge fan of florals and plant designs and enjoys creating embroidery with a clean, uncluttered look that still manages to look intricate.
“I’m personally inspired by minimalist, ‘Scandi’ interiors, and I want create pieces which work well in, and reflect, those sorts of spaces… The designs come from a love of botanical shapes and colors, rather than a conscious decision to follow a particular trend,” Saunders told 91 Magazine.

]]>Cobbett is an award-winning textile artist with more than 25 years of experience. She worked in the printed textile design industry for a long time before deciding to focus on making her own designs and ideas a reality. She moved to the countryside and managed to set up a small home studio in Surrey Hills, UK, which became the birthplace of her impressive 3D textile sculptures.
Most of Corbett’s works are inspired by nature. For example, while taking her dog out for a walk, she uses the opportunity to scout her surroundings and find something that will get her creative juices flowing. That can be something as simple as moss or lichen.
“I’m inspired when I’m out walking, I have time to think, observe nature and enjoy the fresh air, even if it’s raining, the colors of the sky and shiny wet leaves are just lovely,” she explained in a recent interview.
However, Cobbett’s most famous artworks remain embroidered mushrooms, which she recreates to perfection. Check out more examples below.
