Many food artists found viral fame by creating life-like desserts, but no one is doing it in the way that Kerry’s Bouqcakes does. The British food artist behind this Instagram page became a true sensation thanks to her picture-perfect cupcakes that look just like real flowers.

Kerry’s Bouqcakes was founded by Kerry Roberts, who was always an avid baker, but it took some time before she turned her passion into a small business. After giving birth to her two children, she started baking more regularly. After a friend suggested that she make it a full-time job, the idea for Kerry’s Bouqcakes was born.

On her official website, Roberts explains that she loves to “bake fresh, preservative-free cupcakes that [she] would be happy to give to [her] own children and then transform them into floral masterpieces.” She’s been doing this for so long that she even has her favorite buttercream flowers—she’s a huge fan of roses and also enjoys working with pastels, pinks, and peaches.

In addition to creating some of the most stunning floral cupcakes that you’ll ever see, Roberts is committed to teaching others to do the same. She offers online tutorials and workshops to everyone who wants to learn the secrets of her craft.

Each kitty is unique and beautiful in its own right, and that certainly happens to be the case with Willow the Beautiful Cat. She became a true Instagram sensation thanks to her unique face and viral photos that show her posing with many different flower hats.

Willow was just a few years old when she was adopted by the special needs teacher Lori Farris. She spotted her after leaving a student’s house and decided to help her out by taking her to the vet because she was covered in fleas and had a bloody nose and eye infection.

What she learned there was pretty devastating. The vet told Farris that the kitty would most likely be put down because she wasn’t “pretty enough” to be adopted. Farris wasn’t having any of that, so she decided to adopt Willow herself.

Despite her unusual look, Willow became a true Instagram sensation, with almost 250,000 followers. Farris started putting flowers on her head to add some color to her photos, and she’s now using them to spread positivity and good vibes.

“Willow loves wearing her different flower hats and her Instagram has had a great response. I think people like her because she’s a symbol of love, kindness, and being beautiful even though looking different,” she told Metro.

“I create site-specific botanical public art installations exploring the brief space between living and decay, offering nature as a cleansing reset.” That is how Lisa Waud, a talented botanical artist describes her dream job. The Detroit-based woman uses fresh-cut flowers grown in her home state, as well as artificial replicas found in a resale shop to create her art.

Her work is based on zero waste. She buys used and reusable materials, every flower or greenery goes to compost, while the remaining artificial items are going to the recycle bin. Waud is well-known for her work in many fields. You can see her flower arrangements in music videos, on festivals around the world, numerous halls, and stores.

This leads us to her latest project named Party Store, an abandoned place where once pizza, snacks, drinks, and lotto were sold.

“By installing flowers that will ultimately be composted into a space that historically sells items that cannot be biodegraded, I hoped to bridge a connection for responsible choice-making in its visitors’ future,” the artist shared in a statement on her website.

If you want to see more of her artworks, follow her on Instagram for more.

If anything, the past year has drilled down the importance of maintaining a happy, healthy environment. With most of us under lockdown, this meant bringing a bit of color and sunshine inside our homes, be it artificially or not. For many, flower bouquets have become a lock-down must. Gardening has also become a growing trend in many homes.

But for some, maintaining a small garden or even remembering to change the dirty water collected in the flower vase is too great of a hassle. For these people especially the next interior trend comes in handy. We’re talking, of course, of decorative paper flowers – made to last a lifetime.

For fashion designer/painter turned crafter, Christine Ciovarta, paper flowers are much more than a passing interior trend—they’re an artful homage to nature itself. “With every flower I make I try to capture the realistic look as good as I can,” writes Ciovarta on her website, “I feel so grateful that I can make something beautiful with my own two hands.”

A self-taught paper artist, her flowers are made of crepe paper which is painted and laminated. The process itself includes a healthy amount of research, taking note of the flowers’ shape, texture, and color before recreating them. “I study many images with them, I make sketches, mood boards and think of ways to reproduce and practice them,” explains Ciovarta. “After these steps are ready I make all the flowers, greenery, buds, and other elements necessary for my bouquet.”

The end result might at times be mistaken for a realistic flower bouquet. “My customers are always telling me stories how people always mistake my flowers with real ones, which gives me so much pride and joy,” admits the artist. Not only do they look realistic, but paper flowers also live forever, making them a sustainable way to keep your place decorated and on fleek.

Emily Paluska admits she was introduced to the art of paper flowers in a rather unusual, roundabout way. According to Paluska, after the birth of her oldest child, she was searching for a creative outlet that would have nothing to do with her new role as a mother. Looking for something physical to hold onto, she started creating flowers out of paper.

“I was never a crafty or DIY type of person so I’m not sure why I thought doing something like this would be fun,” admitted Paluska in an interview with Paper Talk. “I had first stumbled upon paper flowers when I saw Lia Griffith’s website,” she notes. “I found them appealing initially because I hated spending money on fresh flowers and thought paper flowers would be a fun alternative for me to have flowers around my home that I wouldn’t have to take care of.”

Crafting paper flowers became a sort of ritual, and Paluska recalls creating a flower every day for a year—a practice which she calls “the ultimate self-care”. Now a full-time botanical artist and educator, based in Washington, DC, Paluska sells her paper flowers and teaches workshops about the craft.

Her brand, Revery Paper Flora, celebrates the meeting point between nature and paper, believing in the value (and beauty) of one-of-a-kind pieces made by hand rather than mass-produced objects.

“I found my style through a lot of practice,” says Paluska. “I make a lot of my flowers over a hundred times and through all those renditions, they evolve into something better, not just because of the practice but I am able to see it more clearly.”

One important criteria for her is having her flowers look realistic. “Color has also become integral to my achieving realism,” says Paluska. “For the majority of my custom projects, I will always start with white paper so I can achieve the exact shade necessary.”

Even during the winter, there’s nothing wrong with looking forward to the spring. Luckily, we have this artist’s creations to get us ready for it.

Indeed, we can find plenty of warmth and comfort in Anne ten Donkelaar’s floral art. A mix between collage art, sculpture, and installation, her creations capture the very essence of spring-time. This is mainly done with the use of flowers—some preserved specimen, and some cut out from vintage books.

Having graduated in 2007 from the Utrecht school of The Art (NL), with a degree in 3D Product Design, Donkelaar’s floral art is in many ways a continuation of her surroundings, but with generous embellishment. Her material comes from secondhand books, as well as walks in the forest, meadows, and flower markets of Utrecht.

As such, her creative process revolves around her found material—a broken twig, a bumblebee, strangely grown weeds: “I don’t start with an idea in my head or a sketch on paper,” Donkelaar explained in an interview with Flower Magazine. “I follow the flowers and the colors I’m working with.”

“I love a flower with really long legs,” she adds. “It makes it more elegant somehow, almost as if it’s flying. I strip away all the leaves and let the flower stand out, stand tall.” By protecting her finds under glass, Donkelaar preserves her specimen in a state of eternal springtime. It’s the kind of state we could all aspire to…

As summer turns into autumn and autumn quickly faded into winter, we find ourselves longing for a summery vacation, Covid-free and carefree. But until then, we take comfort in Camille Shu’s bright illustrations. Forever in spring, her work features flowers and fruit, colored in vibrant color palettes that work as instant mood lifters.

“I try to bring color into people’s lives,” explained the Portland-based illustrator in an interview with Bridge & Burn. “Especially in the winters here, we need more color! So I hope to give people a burst of energy when they look at the colorful work that I have painted.”

“I’ve always been obsessed with plants,” she adds, remarking that being as her mom is an amazing gardener, she basically grew up in the garden. “The seasonal changes here provide constant muse-material and I always have my eye on what’s popping up around us,” says Shu, “whether it’s in my garden, my neighbor’s garden, or the farmers market.”

According to Shu, her fruit paintings mostly reflect the fruit she was eating that season. “Same goes for flowers,” she notes, “I am truly amazed when I look at flowers like how does something that cool exist?”

Seattle-based artist Meggan Joy creates beautiful, flowery, human-like figures. The process begins with her planting the seeds and lasts for months. Joy carefully cultivates her plants in a community garden all summer long. Once they’re in fool bloom, she starts snapping photos and combines them into digital collages that represent female bodies. The collages are enriched with birds, butterflies, and other garden life.

“Color and texture form each woman’s shape, and from the photographs of once-living individual things, portraits of ethereal beings begin to emerge,” the artist tells This is Colossal. Her latest series, titled Battle Cry, shows women in conflict.

TW: sexual violence and self harm ———————————————————————— Lucretia is a woman who was raped and blackmailed, who then stabbed herself to reclaim her reputation. A suicide that is not only credited for commencing the rebellion that overthrew the Roman monarchy but also depicted by (mostly male) artists ever since. ⠀ ———————————————————————— ⠀ You'll find versions of her throughout the art world, usually bare-chested and plunging a dagger into her chest. Some are more romanticized than others, but mine is possibly the most. Constructed of wispy meadow, including bluebells from my mother's garden, she uproots herself, raising her weapon in defense.⠀ ———————————————————————— ⠀ I've been too scared to make a Lucretia for years, but a collection under the title 'Battle Cry' must include my variant of her. I can only hope my humble contribution to this lore offers a bit of a narrative shift. ———————————————————————— ⠀ Swipe to see my personal favorite Lucretia, produced by Rembrandt in 1666 (one of his last works) – her face is haunting and so familiar, its as if we all know her. (Also depicted is me, with Parmigianino's Lecretia from 1540. Which traveled to @seattleartmuseum this last Fall.) ———————————————————————— ⠀ It’s hard to share a 50”x30” artwork on such a tiny screen, hopefully you’ll be able to safely visit her at @jrinehartgallery // #mj_battlecry

France-based botanical artist Denise Ramsay paints gentle and elegant flowers with an incredible amount of details. She uses watercolor paints and focuses on the capitulum, the head of the flower. Her works could easily be mistaken for macro photographs, given the realistic colors and the artistic skills of this talented artist.

“(Watercolor) gives me the fluid and transparent washes of color that I need to create the glow of color, light, and shadows to make each flower look like it floats effortlessly in space,” Ramsay told This is Colossal. “My aim is to show them in new and interesting ways, to take a simple ordinary flower and elevate it.”

She currently has around 4,000 Instagram followers but we’re sure it’s just a matter of time before her amazing paintings get through to a larger audience. See them below.

Three years ago he started a project where he began leaving beautiful flower displays in garbage cans, statues, phone booths, and so on. Although his creations are gorgeous, they usually don’t stay alive long.

“We try and gently suggest that people try and keep them in tact for a few hours but honestly, we have had trash can Flower Flashes be taken apart in less than an hour,” Miller shared to Gothamist. “It’s at times heartbreaking to know that something you made can disappear that quickly but quite honestly, it’s that delicious impermanence that makes them so special.”

See them below.

meet Corona! …I finished this painting in the 2nd week of my French lockdown.. so it was all I ever heard about, 😞Covid19 and the totals for each day.. hence the name!! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It felt like nothing else in the world was happening and in a way, there wasn't!!… but in a way there WAS! Lots of good things. 🤗⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have really been enjoying seeing peoples posts on social media, what they are thinking up to do while at home, ways to support each other and their neighbours. 😍⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I have to say I have stopped listening to the daily updates from the news and now, if I'm on Social Media I just focus on the personal stories from people and it's been much more relaxing. I can feel myself being able to focus on other things rather than just "what's the numbers today?…" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ..⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ “Corona” Telopea speciosissima, “21” x 30” Watercolor on Paper⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Check out my website (link in bio) for a closer look! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ …and for those wondering, it's a WARATAH flower!!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ .⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #deniseramsayartist #waratah #artist #aquarelle #illustration #botanicalillustration #botanical #botanicalpainting #botanicalwatercolor #botanicalwatercolour #botany #watercolorflowers #watercolorist #watercolour #watercolorpainting #watercolorillustration #winsorandnewton #watercolor #workinprogress #workinprogressart #fabriano #pinkflower #australianflowers #instaartwork #painting #realism #flowerpainting #houseandgarden #interiordecorator

Lewis Miller, a floral designer and the owner of Lewis Miller Design company, has a very special mission.

You can see Miller’s project on his website and Instagram account where he has attracted over 127 thousand followers.

Scroll down and take a look at his flower designs below. Aren’t they gorgeous?
