]]>Kerry’s Bouqcakes was founded by Kerry Roberts, who was always an avid baker, but it took some time before she turned her passion into a small business. After giving birth to her two children, she started baking more regularly. After a friend suggested that she make it a full-time job, the idea for Kerry’s Bouqcakes was born.
On her official website, Roberts explains that she loves to “bake fresh, preservative-free cupcakes that [she] would be happy to give to [her] own children and then transform them into floral masterpieces.” She’s been doing this for so long that she even has her favorite buttercream flowers—she’s a huge fan of roses and also enjoys working with pastels, pinks, and peaches.
In addition to creating some of the most stunning floral cupcakes that you’ll ever see, Roberts is committed to teaching others to do the same. She offers online tutorials and workshops to everyone who wants to learn the secrets of her craft.

]]>Willow was just a few years old when she was adopted by the special needs teacher Lori Farris. She spotted her after leaving a student’s house and decided to help her out by taking her to the vet because she was covered in fleas and had a bloody nose and eye infection.
What she learned there was pretty devastating. The vet told Farris that the kitty would most likely be put down because she wasn’t “pretty enough” to be adopted. Farris wasn’t having any of that, so she decided to adopt Willow herself.
Despite her unusual look, Willow became a true Instagram sensation, with almost 250,000 followers. Farris started putting flowers on her head to add some color to her photos, and she’s now using them to spread positivity and good vibes.
“Willow loves wearing her different flower hats and her Instagram has had a great response. I think people like her because she’s a symbol of love, kindness, and being beautiful even though looking different,” she told Metro.

]]>Her work is based on zero waste. She buys used and reusable materials, every flower or greenery goes to compost, while the remaining artificial items are going to the recycle bin. Waud is well-known for her work in many fields. You can see her flower arrangements in music videos, on festivals around the world, numerous halls, and stores.
This leads us to her latest project named Party Store, an abandoned place where once pizza, snacks, drinks, and lotto were sold.
“By installing flowers that will ultimately be composted into a space that historically sells items that cannot be biodegraded, I hoped to bridge a connection for responsible choice-making in its visitors’ future,” the artist shared in a statement on her website.

]]>But for some, maintaining a small garden or even remembering to change the dirty water collected in the flower vase is too great of a hassle. For these people especially the next interior trend comes in handy. We’re talking, of course, of decorative paper flowers – made to last a lifetime.
For fashion designer/painter turned crafter, Christine Ciovarta, paper flowers are much more than a passing interior trend—they’re an artful homage to nature itself. “With every flower I make I try to capture the realistic look as good as I can,” writes Ciovarta on her website, “I feel so grateful that I can make something beautiful with my own two hands.”
A self-taught paper artist, her flowers are made of crepe paper which is painted and laminated. The process itself includes a healthy amount of research, taking note of the flowers’ shape, texture, and color before recreating them. “I study many images with them, I make sketches, mood boards and think of ways to reproduce and practice them,” explains Ciovarta. “After these steps are ready I make all the flowers, greenery, buds, and other elements necessary for my bouquet.”
The end result might at times be mistaken for a realistic flower bouquet. “My customers are always telling me stories how people always mistake my flowers with real ones, which gives me so much pride and joy,” admits the artist. Not only do they look realistic, but paper flowers also live forever, making them a sustainable way to keep your place decorated and on fleek.

]]>“I was never a crafty or DIY type of person so I’m not sure why I thought doing something like this would be fun,” admitted Paluska in an interview with Paper Talk. “I had first stumbled upon paper flowers when I saw Lia Griffith’s website,” she notes. “I found them appealing initially because I hated spending money on fresh flowers and thought paper flowers would be a fun alternative for me to have flowers around my home that I wouldn’t have to take care of.”
Crafting paper flowers became a sort of ritual, and Paluska recalls creating a flower every day for a year—a practice which she calls “the ultimate self-care”. Now a full-time botanical artist and educator, based in Washington, DC, Paluska sells her paper flowers and teaches workshops about the craft.
Her brand, Revery Paper Flora, celebrates the meeting point between nature and paper, believing in the value (and beauty) of one-of-a-kind pieces made by hand rather than mass-produced objects.
“I found my style through a lot of practice,” says Paluska. “I make a lot of my flowers over a hundred times and through all those renditions, they evolve into something better, not just because of the practice but I am able to see it more clearly.”
One important criteria for her is having her flowers look realistic. “Color has also become integral to my achieving realism,” says Paluska. “For the majority of my custom projects, I will always start with white paper so I can achieve the exact shade necessary.”

]]>Indeed, we can find plenty of warmth and comfort in Anne ten Donkelaar’s floral art. A mix between collage art, sculpture, and installation, her creations capture the very essence of spring-time. This is mainly done with the use of flowers—some preserved specimen, and some cut out from vintage books.
Having graduated in 2007 from the Utrecht school of The Art (NL), with a degree in 3D Product Design, Donkelaar’s floral art is in many ways a continuation of her surroundings, but with generous embellishment. Her material comes from secondhand books, as well as walks in the forest, meadows, and flower markets of Utrecht.
As such, her creative process revolves around her found material—a broken twig, a bumblebee, strangely grown weeds: “I don’t start with an idea in my head or a sketch on paper,” Donkelaar explained in an interview with Flower Magazine. “I follow the flowers and the colors I’m working with.”
“I love a flower with really long legs,” she adds. “It makes it more elegant somehow, almost as if it’s flying. I strip away all the leaves and let the flower stand out, stand tall.” By protecting her finds under glass, Donkelaar preserves her specimen in a state of eternal springtime. It’s the kind of state we could all aspire to…

]]>“I try to bring color into people’s lives,” explained the Portland-based illustrator in an interview with Bridge & Burn. “Especially in the winters here, we need more color! So I hope to give people a burst of energy when they look at the colorful work that I have painted.”
“I’ve always been obsessed with plants,” she adds, remarking that being as her mom is an amazing gardener, she basically grew up in the garden. “The seasonal changes here provide constant muse-material and I always have my eye on what’s popping up around us,” says Shu, “whether it’s in my garden, my neighbor’s garden, or the farmers market.”
According to Shu, her fruit paintings mostly reflect the fruit she was eating that season. “Same goes for flowers,” she notes, “I am truly amazed when I look at flowers like how does something that cool exist?”
