The Joyful And Childlike Illustrations of Kelly Streeter

2020 has been a difficult year, but within the hard times, many people were able to find true inspiration. Katy Streeter was one of those people, finding a way to harness the light in places where it normally might have been hard to find.

Indeed, Streeter was even more inspired to continue working on her illustrations during the lockdown and to “make people laugh” through them—which is why her joyful creations show the funny side of life.

“I find catharsis in humor and finding fun in uncertain situations,” the artist tells Creative Boom. “Communicating all types of themes in an accessible and light-hearted way is very important to me.” She believes that laughing at difficult topics (as long as it’s done in an appropriate way) can take away their power over us and make us feel lighter.

Streeter is a recent graduate from the University for the Creative Art in Canterbury, where she earned a degree in illustration and animation. When it comes to work experience, she dived straight into freelancing and you can see many of her works on her Instagram page, where she shares them with a few thousand followers.
