The Wonderfully-Pressed Glass Sculptures of Amber Cowan

Artist Amber Cowan creates beautiful monochromatic glass sculptures consisting of many small elements in the same shade. Through her work, Cowan explores the themes of “loneliness, the search for meaning, the search for love, and the following of symbolism in the mundane,” as Colossal quotes her.

The artist can often be seen shopping at antique stores for materials. She also finds discarded glass wherever she goes, so she saves it for making new artworks. As you can see, Cowan has a very unique style, while still managing to evoke a certain nostalgia for some of the great sculptures of the past.

You can see some of her art at exhibitions. For example, her piece Dance of the Pacific Coast Highway at Sunset is on permanent display at New York’s Museum of Arts and Design. If you’re too far away to check out her art in person, visit her Instagram page that has nearly 25,000 followers who admire her work.
