Got a Taste For Nostalgia? Check Out These Retro Collages

Russian artist Philipp Igumnov likes everything that reminds him of the past. He loves working with old and damaged images with washed-out colors and rough textures. But what makes this freelance illustrator truly unique is that he does his artwork only digitally. He even jokes that Ctrl+Z is his biggest passion!

The artist said in an interview with Ballpit that his main goal is to evoke positive emotions so that people will want to return at some point. He also revealed that he seeks inspiration from various things, like stuff that’s over 20 years old, creations of other contemporary artists, and sad real-life situations.

He begins his projects by thinking how his new image should look like, and later he starts hunting for big amounts of materials that would be useful.

“After that making a composition, weeding out unnecessary elements, retouching, texturing everything, adjusting colors, lights, shades and that’s all,” Igumnov said. He also added that since art is his hobby and job, he wouldn’t know what to do without it.
