Tommy Siegel’s Candy Heart Comics Capture Our Most Real and Unfiltered Thoughts

Relationships aren’t easy because there’s no way of knowing what the other person is thinking, and it takes a while before the truth comes out. Tommy Siegel was so intrigued by this disconnect that exists between couples that he decided to capture people’s most unfiltered thoughts through a series of comics called Candy Hearts.

Siegel attracted 250,000 followers to his Instagram page so far, but Candy Hearts weren’t the beginning of his creative journey. He initially kicked things off by doing one comic every day for 500 days, but the ones with heart-shaped characters quickly became the biggest hit.

People found Candy Hearts comics relatable because they perfectly capture our most honest feelings that we’re often scared to share or say out loud. Siegel started this series because he wanted to explore people’s internal monologues, and they went on to become a viral phenomenon.

In addition to sharing them on his Instagram page, Siegel collected some of the very best comics in this series and published them in the book Candy Hearts. He described it as a series of comics that hilariously capture the secrets, lies, and misunderstandings behind every relationship, offering a hysterical window into the many ways romantic couples are not on the same page.
