Unlike dogs and cats, raccoons are rarely welcome into our houses. However, that doesn’t stop them from inviting themselves and settling in. You’ve probably heard countless stories of raccoons occupying people’s sheds, basements, and attics, or blatantly entering the house and refusing to get out.
Something similar happened to Philadelphia–based Twitter user Drew Olanoff, who shared a hilarious story about his attempts to evict a raccoon from his attic.
In a thread posted on Twitter, which has since become viral, Olanoff revealed that he had recently experienced some issues with the electricity in his home. When the electrician came over for inspection, he found a raccoon settled in Olanoff’s attic. The trash panda had created a “nice setup” for himself and was apparently working on his collection of snow crabs.
actual thing our electrician just said: you have a raccoon nested in your attic. did you guys eat king snow crabs, because he has a bunch of them up there.

(we did not have any snow crabs)
Olanoff then embarked on a mission to evict the unwanted guest from his house, but that turned out to be much more complicated than it appeared. His wife April had several failed attempts to book a wildlife removal service before finally making a breakthrough.

i know april is nervous because she just gave a wildlife place her name and said “april, like the month” WHICH SHE NEVER EVER DOES

When the wildlife removal service employee arrived on the scene, he told the Olanoff household that this might be a tricky operation as raccoons can get very defensive when someone attempts to evict them.

Luckily for Olanoff and his family, the story had a happy ending and came with an unexpected twist. As it turns out, the raccoon in the attic was actually a possum, and it wasn’t snow crabs he was collecting.
Ok folks. Here’s the last update. What a ride.

It wasn’t a raccoon it was a possum. And more importantly….it wasn’t crab legs. Everyone is safe. pic.twitter.com/ugRWlpDsDd
