Al Murphy Playfully Makes Fun of Marketing World with His False Ads

Al Murphy is a commercial artist who’s done a lot of work in the advertising industry but doesn’t always love it. He definitely has a love/hate relationship with advertising; it’s been his calling for years that brought him awards, but at the same time he’s been questioning his morals when he’d work on an ad for children’s products and similar tasks.

His new collection titled False Advertising will be displayed at a solo show in London that opens on September 5. The point of these illustrations, according to the artist, is to “have a celebratory experience – one that doesn’t make you want to buy dietary products, but have another drink and get that extra side of cheesy chips you’d decided against.” He says that the exhibition will be a “multi-dimensional sensory overload experience” that has a goal to thrill and confuse the visitors.
